Rescue – Sunday 22 December 2019
Both Redcar RNLI lifeboats were launched at just after 5.30pm on Sunday 22 December 2019 to help other emergency services search for a missing person in the Saltburn area.
The lifeboats searched close inshore using the recently donated thermal imaging equipment to identify possible targets on the beach and in the sea.
The missing person was found safe ashore by police a short time later and both lifeboats were stood down and returned to Redcar.
Both our lifeboats carry state-of-the-art thermal imaging equipment, one donated by a private sponsor and the other by the joint efforts of PD Ports and the port users group and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
The volunteer crew at Redcar is on call 24 hours a day, including over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. If you’d like to make a donation towards our lifesaving work at Redcar, you can find a donate button on our Facebook page at facebook.com/RedcarRNLI.
